Grand Island Instrumental Boosters Meeting

Minutes from December 6, 2011

A. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm

 

B. The minutes from the 11/04/11 meeting were approved.

 

C. Treasury report:               Account balance:        $25,731.69

                                            Student accounts:         $23,713.45

                                            Boosters balance:         $  2,018.24                 

     D. Current fundraisers:

1. Pizza Sale – The student officers would like to do another sale in January after the break. Pickup will be in February before the card sale. Marty will contact the vendor. This will be pre-pay.

2. Fruit sale – Out of 188 students, 106 participated. Student profit was $8,105.25. Delivery date is 12/10/11. Tentative delivery time is 10:00 am.

3. Spring Dance concessions in May – Kate Donahue is chairperson. Mike Dudley is co-chair. Mike Dudley was also voted in as the new treasurer. Will need notes from Cheryl Oyer on the spring dance concessions.

4. Membership - total members this year is 80 so far.

5. Shirt/sweat shirt sales – still ongoing.

6. Calendar sale update – no update – will evaluate after the first of the year.

7. Buffalo Swing Band dance/fundraiser – we will select a new timeframe; in January we will be doing the Race night fundraiser.

 

E. Projects:

1. Banner – is in Marty’s office – it was suggested that the second banner can also be used at Town Hall to advertise concert dates.

2. Cookie Sale – lots of cookies were dropped off for the sale at the concert – wear a booster shirt to work the sale if you have one.

3. Race Night – handout passed out by Kim and Scott Kalman. The event is on January 7th at the Moose Lodge. It will be open to the community also. The event was approved by vote.

4. Trip update – Itinerary and agreement that needs to be signed by student and parent was sent home and must be returned by Friday.

 

F. New Business:

1. Tak Nobumoto distributed a handout on the capital project – the topic was open for discussion. The vote is on 12/20/11.

2. Craig Poissant distributed a handout on Bruce Johnstone. He would like the boosters to provide funds to hire Mr. Johnstone as a guest artist to work with/play with the HS jazz ensemble for the All Island Jazz Concert which is on 03/14/11. There was a motion to provide $600.00 to hire Bruce Johnstone and it was approved.

3. Mr. Christmann approached Diana Nobumoto prior to the meeting to ask if the boosters would be interested in providing concessions as a fundraiser for a Judo competition which will be held at the High School over Memorial Day weekend (Friday and Saturday). The estimate is for about 1,000 attendees at the competition. It was approved that we would try it.

 

G. Announcements:

1. Winter Concert Thursday December 8th

2. Next meeting is January 3rd at 7:00 pm.
